A profitable loss

On Wednesday night, in my return to cash games, I failed to have a winning session. Nevertheless, it met my criteria for a profitable loss :-) That is to say, I took a bad beat on the hand where I lost the most money, and if I'd won that hand, I would have made a profit. How can that be profitable, you might ask. My answer is that the bad beat proves I was playing well, and if I keep playing that way, I'm bound to turn a profit.
